Greetings,

McLane High School’s ArtVenture Academy has created an innovative project to raise awareness to the plight of victims of Human Trafficking. In partnership with the City of Fresno, Fresno Police Department, and Fresno Unified School District, the students at McLane High School in the ArtVenture Academy have created a guerilla street art project to tell the stories of victims of Human Trafficking through the visual arts and writing. Called, After Dark, Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking, this is a project that is empowering students to be advocates.  As a principal and parent of four I spend the majority of my life surrounded by kids. It was not until I participated in the community advisory meeting hosted by ArtVenture and featuring guest speaker Sergeant David Wilkins that I understood how the youth of our community are exposed, victimized and recruited into human trafficking. It is imperative that we all become educated on the process used to victimize our children in order to be aware of the warning signs, resources, and have open dialogue with the youth of our community to ensure they are not manipulated and pressured into being victims. Please read the stories, speak with your children and together we can work to stop the children of our community from being victims of Human Trafficking.

Sincerely,

Brian Wulf

Principal, McLane High School
